Graduated from Newark College of Engineering in 1956 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Spent 3 years in the USAF in pilot training & finished up in the 44th Bomb Wing of Strategic Air Command of 2nd Air Force. Retired from the USAF with the reserve rank of Captain. After my military service I was a Project Engineer & became Plant Engineer with a staff of 20 people. Worked as Senior Engineer for Esso Research & Engineering in processing Polyolefin Films & Machinery Design. Spent almost 10 years with Egan Machinery in Extrusion Coating Equipment with customers in the USA, Europe & Asia. Made my 1st trip around the world from West to East in 1976. Started a Consulting company, Kirchner, Inc., in 1980 for converting equipment systems. Set up the initial phases for a converting plant in Sri Lanka. Made my second trip around the world in 1990 from East to West. Retired in 1998 in Ocean Pines, MD. NEW ADDITION 8/15/2019. Spent 20 years in Ocean Pines & enjoyed family & friends living on a canal with boating, golf, tennis & other amenities. Traveled to Florida for golf & international trips that included numerous places in Europe & Tangiers.

AUG. 15, 2019. MARY JANE LOMASNEY & RICHARD KIRCHNER STARTED A RELATIONSHIP IN 1949 AT PVHS. THAT IS 70 YEARS IN 2019. WE WERE MARRIED ON NOVEMBER 3, 1956 IN LITTLE FALLS, NJ. WE HAVE BEEN MARRIED FOR 62 YEARS. IT HAS BEEN A GOOD LIFE TOGETHER. WE CURRENTLY LIVE AT PLUSH MILLS, 501 PLUSH MILL ROAD, APT. 513, WALLINGFORD, PA 19086-6071.
School Story:

Best day of my PVHS sports activity was when our golf team won the 3rd leg of 5 years on the 1950 Golf Trophy & retired it. In our final match we defeated Ridgewood & Pompton Lakes & I had a score of 79. I still have the article that appeared in the Paterson Evening News. In 2000 at our class reunion I found the trophy in a trophy case & took a picture of it.

Hi Joyce, Congratulations on achieving your 90th Birthday on August 15, 2023. It was good to talk with you Sunday, August 6th, 2023 for 1 & 1/2 hours. I saved comments by Laura Linney in Sunday’s Parade Magazine of April 21, 2013. After a role of a cancer patient she summed up her comments about growing older. “I do feel more peaceful about aging. I consider aging a privilege that not everyone gets & I am grateful for where I am.” God has blessed you to have the longevity of 90 years & join me in being 90. Rich. You put the caption under my picture that said, “He finds delight in things athletic”. I still have the article from the Paterson Evening News that says “Valley Retains Title In Golf. Retains Title.” What a a team effort it was for the Class of 1950. I was fortunate enough to shoot a 79 on that day. In 2000 I visited PVHS & found the trophy our team won. Keep in touch. Mary Jane Lomasney (Kirchner) died on on June 29, 2021.  She was loved very much by her Family & Husband.  She was married to Richard F. Kirchner for 64 years.  It was an adventure in living & she will be missed by all.

Hi Pat, Jane & I survived Covid 19. We have been in Plush Mills in Wallingford, PA for 3 years. On 3/24/21 they finally opened up our dining room & bar. Catherine our daughter lives nearby in Swarthmore PA. Stay healthy. Rich & Jane
