Woodland Park - Samuel Tirone Jr. was born into a loving family on July 31, 1973 in Jersey City, NJ. He lived in Woodland Park majority of his life. He transitioned into eternity on February 24, 2021 at 47.
Friends and family are invited to attend a viewing at D'Agostino funeral home 881 Ringwood Ave, Haskell, NJ 07420 Monday, March 1, 2021, 6-8pm.
He was preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Geraldine Tirone.
Samuels memory will be forever remembered by his sister; Lisa Irvine and husband Rick Mieses; brother Ben Guaimano and wife Maria; brother in law; Rob Irvine, nieces and nephews; Nicole and husband Sergio Ferrari, RJ Irvine and fiancé Heather Landa, Tara and John Guaimano; great niece and nephew Gio and Sienna Ferrari.
His passion in life was football. At only 7 years old he played Quarterback and led his Pop Warner C squad in West Paterson to an undefeated season in 1983. This team would grow together to win consecutive national division championships as the A Team. Tirone wore jersey #17 and that number stuck with him for life. He was the starting Quarterback at Passaic Valley High School from 1987-1991, he achieved 1st team all league and all county honors culminated by a 2nd team All State senior year where he threw for over 4,000 yards and 32 TDs. His teammates gave him the nickname "The Vet." After graduating PV in 1991 he was recruited by many D1 schools and landed at Central Connecticut State University. Tirone set many school records in his career including pass completions in a season (138), total offensive yards in a game (305), single season passing yards in 1994 (2,116) and career passing yards (4,414) Most of these records still stand today.
Sammy will be fondly remembered by all for his big personality, ability to make anyone laugh, and heart of gold. His charisma swept everyone off their feet. Sammy was committed and devoted to anything he put his mind to. Sammy will be terribly missed by all his loved ones.
