Dennis William Diestlier - Class Of 1964

Dennis W. Diestler Navy signalman on destroyer and Teamsters driver, 70 Dennis W. Diestler, 70, of Green Township, N.J., passed away Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017, at the Hackensack University Medical Center, following a long illness. Born and raised in West Paterson, N.J., Dennis resided in Green Township for over 47 years.  Son of the late Frederick and Josephine (Reichel) Diestler, Dennis was a graduate of West Paterson High School, Class of 1964. He proudly served in the United States Navy as a petty officer 3rd class on a destroyer as a signalman during the Vietnam War. Dennis was a member of the Teamsters Local 408, Union, N.J., and worked as a truck driver for many years until his retirement. A member of the American Legion Post 0164 Hackettstown, N.J., he was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans . Dennis was in the alumni of the U.S.S. Warrington and the U.S.S. Newman K. Perry. A friendly and sociable man, Dennis enjoyed fishing, boating and gardening. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Predeceased by his sister, Joy Hartmann, Dennis is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce A. (Stolarz); son, Peter and wife Karin Diestler, as well as his cherished grandchildren, Jonathan Diestler, and Lauren and her husband, Joshua Hawk
