This one really hurts. Mike and I did everything together during the last 2 years of high school and for years after, until we married our wives.  We were simpatico; we'd finish each other's sentence, we would burst out laughing - understanding an irony or summing up a scene - after just a moment's glance.  He was best man at my wedding and our close friendship never waned. He was "Uncle Mikey" to our children.  Mike had an terrific sense of humor and an infectious laugh. He was loyal, honest, and he never violated his principles.  Mike loved all types of music and he passed on gems to me that I would never have considered.  Mike taught me many, many other things as well, but, the last lesson is the most profound. Mike was confronted with a multitude of medical issuses over the past 3 years, enduring tribulations no one would ever want, but he faced them with magnificent courage, with majestic fortitude.  I believe I would have given up. Mike absolutely amazed me and I now know just how strong a person can really be.  I loved Mike and I will miss him and think of him often.
